intensity of degradation brings great uncertainty to the
calculation of carbon emissions. LiDAR data represent the most
accurate way to estimate forest structure and carbon today. The
study focuses on areas of forest degradation for which airborne
LiDAR data were acquired in previous initiatives by the Brazilian
Forestry Service (SFB). The research is integrated with the
previous year's PIBIC project, aimed at mapping forest degradation
in the Brazilian Amazon through deep learning. Based on the mapped
area with degraded areas and knowing the time after degradation,
it is proposed to use airborne LiDAR data to quantify the impact
of these activities on the structure and carbon accumulated in the
forest. The combination of these new degradation mappings with
LiDAR data constitutes an excellent opportunity to test the
viability of this innovative methodology for monitoring forest
degradation in the Amazon and areas under forest concession. Thus,
this project aims to quantify the intensity of forest degradation
in the Brazilian Amazon through the integration of airborne and
field LiDAR data. The main result was to mathematically observe
the relationship between the intensity of logging calculated from
SFB data and from LiDAR.",
